Belonging
There is no more aloneness, with that awful ache, so deep in the heart of every alcoholic, that nothing, before, could ever reach it.
That ache is gone and never need return again.
Now there is a sense of belonging, of being wanted and needed and loved.
In return for a bottle and a hangover, we have been given the Keys of the Kingdom.

Maureen here, an alcoholic.  When I was new in AA, it did not take long for me to concede to my innermost self that I am an alcoholic.  I do thank God for this, as I know it usually does not happen this way.  I knew down to my little toe I was in the right place, and that I had found wonderful people to get sober with.  Today, it is the other parts of life that I have to remember to ask for help with, to get out of my own way for, and to be a part of.  I have had some wonderful opportunities come my way this year.  So far, I have been able to take advantage of them.  Going to school, working, and keeping recovery my number one priority is not easy or simple, but it can be done; people do it all the time.  I have to be willing to stay out of my own way and remember that God is in charge.  I do not have to have all the answers for myself or anyone else.  This is a "WE" program, always will be.  Thank you.
