A Higher Power
We found that as soon as we were able to lay aside prejudice
and express even a willingness to believe in a Power greater than ourselves, we commenced to get results,
even though it was impossible for any of us to fully define or comprehend that Power, which is God.

I'm Tommy, an alcoholic.  I still have issues concerning God, but I always go back to God.  I've said goodbye to God, but I always come back and wonder who I’m talking to if HP does not exist, often laughing at myself.  And I've also admitted to some friends outside the program that I believe in a Higher Power: God.  That is big for me -- a big step!  Recently, my mother died suddenly.  So now, I really talk and think a lot of God and about how she must be in heaven drinking coffee.  I feel a bit crazy, because I talk aloud with my mum and with God when I’m alone.  But if it works, why not?  It is scary because I kind of get answers.  Or it is like I hear answers, not real voices, but hard to explain.  So, from being the real atheist I once was, it is kind of cool to have something bigger, like God and all of you to support me in good and bad.  My feelings are like a rollercoaster up and down right now, but that's ok.  So, thank you so much.  And very welcome if you are new, this works!
